the obscenity of apartheid came to an end. a young generation in belfast and london have grown up without ever having to think about ira bombs. in just the past 16 years, we’ve come from a world without marriage equality to one where it’s a reality in nearly two dozen countries. around the world, more people live in democracies. we’ve lifted more than 1 billion people from extreme poverty. we’ve cut the child mortality rate worldwide by more than half.

america is better. the world is better. and stay with me now – race relations are better since i graduated. that’s the truth. no, my election did not create a post-racial society. i don’t know who was propagating that notion. that was not mine. but the election itself – and the subsequent one – because the first one, folks might have made a mistake. (laughter.) the second one, they knew what they were getting. the election itself was just one indicator of how attitudes had changed.

recently, it is very popular to live a low-carbon life。 it not only resultsfrom the promotion of the government but also rises out of the people's internalheart。

living a low-carbon life is of great importance to everyone。 first of all,it can protect the environment to a great extent。 second, it can save thelimited natural resources and energy, and will leave a better world for ouroffspring。 third, it is a healthy lifestyle and will help mould a harmonioussocial atmosphere。

therefore, how to create a low-carbon life is necessary for us to consider。to begin with, we should save the energy, such as the electricity, water anddomestic gas。 second, when we go out we can walk or ride a bike instead of bycar。 third, we should not use the plastic bags which are hard to break down。 ifso, we can live a low-carbon life and gain the happiness of it。 (158 words)

there are places where cities once stood. there are gardens with trees and grass. but now these places are like deserts. scientists began to study this land to find out what happened. many of them believe the land died when trees were cut down. by this story,we find that we must do our best to provide our word’s environment.

now,in the world, many students began to do something for our world. they join environment clubs. in the club, people work together to make our environment clean. they bring their lunches in bags that can be used again. every week they choose the classes that make the least garbage and report them to the whole school. they also come to school in no-car days. cars give pollution to our air,so remember:walk, ride a bike or run, used our legs. it’s more fun!

thanksgiving is learning to be the fulcrum, the heart of thanksgiving is a good feeling, the world is all things to all people expressed their gratitude, remember, thanksgiving is a fine tradition of our nation, is a person of integrity at least moral character. thanksgiving is the key to return. return is the feeding, training, instruction, guidance, help, support and ambulance themselves. grateful, and through its own 10 times, 100 times the pay, and repay them with practical action. then, as a middle school student, how thanksgiving? first thanksgiving their parents, because everyone's life is a continuation of the parents of one blood, all of the parents gave us love, let us enjoy the human world of affection and happiness, therefore, we would like to thank the parents. for the survival of nature is the basis of all things, human life is inseparable from its 1:15 activities, we have the basic necessities of human nature, and so on are obtained from the therefore, we should be thankful nature. teachers are our growth, are our friends, teachers respect, understand and care for us, their words and deeds, let us benefit for life, we pay for teachers efforts and sweat, we should thanksgiving teachers. students study the lives of our fellow students to encourage each other, help each other, to jointly overcome difficulties and setbacks, the common taste of success and happiness learning, we should be grateful for every day and we accompanied the students. the school provides us with a good study environment, our training establishments and room to grow and develop, we should be thankful schools. the motherland is our roots, our source. no homeland, we did not have the habitat of no motherland, we will be no human dignity; no homeland, we have not all! we should be thankful.

good morning ladies and gentlemen:

the title of my speech today is “the doors that are open to us ”。

the other day my aunt paid me a visit. she was overjoyed. “i got thehighest mark in the mid-term examination!” she said. don't be surprised! my auntis indeed a student; to be exact, a college student at the age of 45.

last year, she put aside her private business and signed up for a one-year,full-time management course in a college. “this was the wisest decision i haveever made,” she said proudly like a teenage girl. to her, college is always aright place to pick up new ideas, and new ideas always make her feel young.

“compared with the late 70s,” she says, “now college students have manydoors.” my aunt cannot help but recall her first college experience in 1978 whencollege doors began to be re-opened after the cultural revolution. she wasassigned to study engineering despite her desire to study chinese literature, and a few years later, the government sent her to work in a tv factory.

i was shocked when she first told me how she (had) had no choice in hermajor and job. look at us today! so many doors are open to us! i believe therehave never been such abundant opportunities for self-development as we havetoday. and my aunt told me that we should reach our goals by grasping all theseopportunities.

the first door i see is the opportunity to study different kinds ofsubjects that interest us. my aunt said she was happy to study management, butshe was also happy that she could attend lectures on ancient chinese poetry andon shakespearean drama. as for myself, i am an english major, but i may also goto lectures on history. to me, if college education in the past emphasizedspecialization, now, it emphasizes free and well-rounded development of eachindividual. so all the fine achievements of human civilization are open tous.

the second door is the door to the outside world. learning goes beyondclassrooms and national boundaries. my aunt remembers her previous college daysas monotonous and even calls her generation “frogs in a well.” but today, as theworld becomes a global village, it is important that our neighbors and we beopen-minded to learn with and from each other. i have many fellow internationalclassmates, and i am applying to an exchange program with a university abroad.as for my aunt, she is planning to get an mba degree in the united kingdom whereher daughter, my cousin, is now doing her master's degree in biochemistry. weare now taking the opportunity to study overseas, and when we come back, we'llput to use what we have learnt abroad.

the third door is the door to lifelong learning. as new ideas appear allthe time, we always need to acquire new knowledge, regardless of our age.naturally, my aunt herself is the best example. many of my aunt's contemporariessay that she is amazingly up-to-date for a middle-aged woman. she simplyresponds, “age doesn't matter. what matters is your attitude. you may think it'sstrange that i am still going to college, but i don't think i'm too old tolearn.” yes, she is right. since the government removed the age limit forcollege admissions in _, there are already some untraditional students, sittingwith us in the same classrooms. like these people, my aunt is old but she isvery young in spirit. with her incredible energy and determination, she embodiesboth tradition and modernity.

the doors open to us also pose challenges. for instance, we are faced withthe challenge of a balanced learning, the challenge of preserving our finetradition while learning from the west, and the challenge of learningcontinuously while carrying heavy responsibilities to our work and family. so,each door is a test of our courage, ability and judgment, but with the supportof my teachers, parents, friends and my aunt, i believe i can meet the challengehead on. when i reach my aunt's age, i can be proud to say that i have walkedthrough dozens of doors and will, in the remainder of my life, walk through manymore. possibly i will go back to college, too.

thank you very much, ladies and gentlemen.

i am grateful for the opportunity to deliver my speech here after 7-dayssquo; preparation with my friend jinly. thanks to jinlysquo;s strong support in our work. i think it is my way of saying thank you to you that giving an excellent presentation to all my friends here.

the subject of our presentation is your dream & your goal. during the next 10 minutes, wesquo;ll give you a brief explanation of these stuff at the best of our knowledge.

first of all, isquo;d like to spent 3 or 5 minutes on discussing about the dream. when we were 5, they asked us what we want to be when we grow up. we answered like superman, princess, or in my case, a sailor moon. when we were 10, again they asked and the answer was policemen, doctors and some other high-principled jobs. but unfortunately, we finally found our dreams unrealistic as we entered a not-so-good high school, did not-so-good school works and went to a not-so-good direction in our life. i guess, many of you have thought about changing your dreams, but finally felt at a loss again. yep! wesquo;re adults and they are waiting for a serious answer. well, how about this? who the hell knows! dream is only a dream. itsquo;s unnecessary for us to think over our dreams all day long. you know, dreams always change, and this is not the time to make difficult decisions. but what do dreams do? why do we still have an urgent need of dreams?

think about it: do you have had a time when you were full of happiness just because you have made an achievement that pushes you a bit to your dream? do you have had a time when you insist on what you were doing even the tears keep falling from your eyes? that is the power from dreams! may i equate the faith and the dream here? as we all know, aims and dreams are far from each other to some extent but close to each other on the other hand. just like the parabola and the number line in mathematics. but it is the dream that help us to map out our aim and work out plans one after another in our life. just like what howard schultz, the founder of the starbuck said, dreams are like the stars----we never reach them, but like mariners, we chart our course by them. and i believe that if you have a dream and make efforts step by step, some of you may extremely finish the quantitative change on the way to success and reach the qualitative change!

i would like to finish my part by a tongue twister: whether the weather be fine or whether the weather be not. whether the weather be cold or whether the weather be hot. we'll weather the weather whether we like it or not. whatever you dreams are and however difficult it is to realize them. reach your aim step by step and i believe your dreams will extremely come into truth!

thank you for your lending an attentive ear to my point of view. letsquo;swelcome jinly and she will talk about the goal, which is the other part of our presentation, during the next 5 minutes.

forgive my stupid words and itsquo;s my pleasure to answer any of your questions after class!

you have been a very attentive audience---- thank you~!
